The End of the Beginning.

Fear Not.

We all have heard that the fight/flight response is rooted in evolution – helping to keep us safe. Besides saving us from monstrous predators, though, fear insidiously works its way into our everyday lives.

Fear keeps us exactly where we are.

Fear can sound like this:

I should stay in this relationship because I will never find anyone else.
I have to stay at this job because I have to feed my family and probably won’t be able to get another job that pays like this (Hello, Great Resignation, though).
Or it can show up like this:

I don’t want to get too excited about this opportunity if it doesn’t work out.
I don’t want the promotion anyway – it will probably be too much work.
I should be grateful for my relationship. There are so many relationships that are worse than mine.

Does this sound like you?

You want to take a course, but you tell yourself that you haven’t studied in years and aren’t equipped (smart enough) to take the course? Take it anyway. Taking action is the only way to outsmart and co-exist with fear. (I am explicitly calling myself out here 😁).

Fear sucks the life out of us, and I want to help you breathe it back in.

The mind is a funny place. What I know for sure is that if there is something you want to do but aren’t doing it, there is likely some fear lurking inside you. And it is perfectly normal because we are all human.

Here are some steps you can take if you don’t want fear to continue to underwrite your life:

1.) Notice your fear (thoughts, word choices).

2.) Interrupt your thoughts (they are very rarely supportive of your bravery).

3.) Question the validity of the story you are telling yourself (Is it true that I don’t deserve this promotion? I mean, who else knows the business the way I do?).

4.) And, finally, make different choices (I deserve this promotion. If it doesn’t work out, I will try again because I am ready for more).

Fear Not. I’ve got your back.

Thank you for reading.
