How many words can you make from the word Unprecedented?
I am a word person. It is probably my greatest skill to play word games – I like Boggle, Scrabble. Wordscapes, and my latest obsession is Words with Friends. My mind just likes to untangle letters and to create new words. I don’t think anyone who has worked with me before would refute that I like to use the phrase “words matter.”
So, I love the furor over the overuse of the word, unprecedented. Without having a crystal ball, I think this may well be the word of the year for 2020 – we shall see.
I think in difficult times it is easy to pick on a minor aggravation point like overuse of a word because perhaps that makes it easier to actual manage the intangible issue at large. We are all holed up in our homes reconnecting to our lives having a plethora of information thrown at us by the millisecond. I have decided to limit my news intake to twice a day. I don’t think I miraculously will be able to return to my normal, pre-pandemic routine overnight, and I am just going with the flow at this point. What else can we do?
I am choosing to look for the opportunities in this experience and re-connect with my friends and family as much as possible. This can be an isolating time for many who have not worked at home before. None of us have actually ever lived through a pandemic so new territory for all of us.
Many of my coaching cohorts are offering complimentary coaching sessions during this very stressful time, and I am offering the same. Please, feel free to reach out to me if you need to talk or if I can help find a resource for you. Our job as coaches is to provide support.
If you want to connect with me on Words with Friends, I welcome the challenge, but truth be told, I like to win J.
Unprecedented: Precede, pure, dent, dune, cede, tend, teed, pend, punted, punt, cent, rune, tuned, tune, crept……. (keep adding to the list)
Stay safe.
